SOMATIC SOUND RESONANCE

    Vibroacoustic Therapy
    (VAT)

A Non-Invasive, Evidence-Informed Approach to Relaxation and Nervous System Support

    UNDERSTANDING VAT

    What is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) uses low-frequency sound vibrations, typically delivered through specially designed beds, chairs, or mats. These gentle vibrations are felt physically throughout the body and may support relaxation, body awareness, and overall well-being.

Unlike traditional music therapy, VAT is not only heard. It is experienced as gentle sound vibration—often described as an internal massage-like sensation for the body and nervous system.

    THE MECHANISM

    How Does VAT Work?

Low-frequency sound travels through the body to gently support relaxation, circulation, and nervous system balance.

    Cellular & Muscular Support

Low-frequency sound vibrations resonate through the body and may encourage relaxation, circulation, and release of physical tension.

    Nervous System Regulation

VAT may support parasympathetic nervous system activity—the body's natural rest, digest, and restore response.

    Vagus Nerve Stimulation

Sound vibration may help support communication between the brain and body through the vagus nerve.

    Relaxation Response

Many people experience a sense of calm, lightness, and deep relaxation during or after a session.

    Gentle Physical Stimulation

The experience can create subtle mechanical stimulation in the body, similar to the relaxed feeling that can follow gentle movement or exercise.

    THE EXPERIENCE

What Can a VAT Session Feel Like?

Each person's experience is different, but many people describe feeling calm, grounded, relaxed, lighter, or more connected to their body.

Some may experience a response similar to the sense of well-being that can follow physical activity—a quiet, restorative settling of the body and mind.
